Saint Kitts and Nevis

Saint Kitts and Nevis is a Caribbean island nation consisting of two islands. Both islands are located in the West Indies. It is the smallest independent state in the Western Hemisphere. It is only 261 square kilometers in size. It is also the smallest state in terms of population. There are only 48,000 inhabitants. The capital Basseterre is located on the largest island, Saint Kitts. This is also where the main port for both passengers and cargo is located. The smaller island Nevis is located about three kilometers southeast of Saint Kitts. The islands are divided by a shallow channel, called The Narrows.
