Reunion is a French overseas department and part of the Mascarene archipelago, together with Mauritius, Rodrigues and the Cargados Carajos archipelago. It is a volcanic island and you will find one of the most active volcanoes in the world and at the same time the highest point in the Indian Ocean: the Piton de la Fournaise.
The island also has beautiful sandy beaches. You can’t swim everywhere in the sea and that’s a good thing. Due to the high number of shark attacks, Reunion is also called the world’s deadliest island!
